Adolescent Development

Course number: DEGS0913 • Credit hours: 3 hrs

Distance Education Course: Study adolescent development in both theoretical and practical approaches and supports application to youth ministry.

Course Description: The intent of this course is to introduce students to the scientific study of adolescent development and apply this knowledge toward effective youth work. Although the volume of material in print on these two areas is vast, we will survey the most important topics as they relate to youth and youth work. This course is introductory in nature so it will provide a basic understanding of adolescent development and foundational principles that will serve as a basis for further study. The course is both theoretical and practical. The student is encouraged to always ask, “How can I apply this information toward working with teens today?”
